So, I saw this PRADA Re-Edition 2005 bag the other day, and I thought, “I bet I can make that.” It’s a pretty simple design, you know? This one is inspired by the old mini hobo bag they had back in the day. I’m not sure why, but I just felt like it would be a fun project to try and replicate it.
First, I started by looking everywhere online for pictures of the original bag. I wanted to get a good look at all the details. I saw that some people were selling used ones, but they were still pretty pricey. The bag has a nylon body and this cute little pouch that hooks onto the strap. Also, there’s a silver chain-link strap you can use, too.
After I felt like I had a good grasp of the design, I went and got some black nylon fabric. I also found some black saffiano leather for the trim. That was a bit harder to find, but I managed. And of course, I needed some silver hardware, like the zippers and the chain.

Then came the actual making of the bag. I started by cutting out the nylon fabric according to the shape I wanted, which I just kinda eyeballed from the pictures. It was a bit of trial and error, to be honest. But I’m good with my hands. I have been sewing for years, so that helped a lot. Then, I sewed the pieces together, which was the most time-consuming part. But it was really satisfying to see it start to take shape.
Next, I added the leather trim, which was a bit tricky. I wanted it to look neat, you know? And the silver hardware, especially the top zipper, took some patience to install properly. I am not going to lie, I messed up a few times, but I got it eventually.

The Result
Honestly, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out! It’s not perfect, but it definitely looks like a PRADA Re-Edition 2005 bag. Or at least, a pretty good copy. I carried it around a few times, and I got some compliments. It’s not the real deal, but it’s a fun little project I can say I did myself. And it was way cheaper than buying a used one online, that’s for sure. This whole thing was just a spur-of-the-moment kind of project. I saw the bag, had an idea, and just went for it. It is not perfect, but it is mine, and I like it.
