Okay, so, I got this idea to try and remake the PRADA Medium Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag, the original order version. Yeah, it’s a mouthful, I know. First thing I did was get my hands on some Saffiano leather. Now, this ain’t your regular leather. It’s the real deal, treated and embossed, and feels tough as nails. This stuff is supposed to be chrome-tanned, which I guess makes it durable. And I made sure to get the right thickness too, ’cause that matters.
I started by cutting the leather. Now, this was tricky. I had to get the pieces just right, you know, like a puzzle. I used a pattern I found, but honestly, I had to eyeball a lot of it. Cut, cut, cut, that’s all I did for a good while. And let me tell you, cutting leather ain’t like cutting paper. It’s tough work.
- Cutting the Leather: This was the first big step. I laid out the leather, all smooth and shiny. Used a sharp knife, the kind that can slice through this tough material.
- Stitching it Up: After cutting, I started stitching. I used this thick thread, the kind that won’t break easily. Stitch, stitch, stitch. My fingers were sore, but I kept at it. This part took forever, but it was kinda satisfying, seeing the bag come together.
- Adding the Hardware: Then came the shiny bits, the hardware. I got some gold-tone pieces, ’cause that’s what the original has. Attaching these was a pain, let me tell you. Had to punch holes in the leather and then fix these pieces in. But hey, it looked good in the end.
Once the pieces were cut, I had to stitch them together. Now, I ain’t no professional, but I got a sewing machine, and I learned a few tricks. It wasn’t easy, though. The leather was thick, and I had to make sure the stitches were strong and straight. Took a lot of patience, let me tell you.
Then there was the hardware. I managed to find some gold-tone pieces that looked pretty close to the original. Getting them on the bag was a whole other challenge. Had to punch holes, align everything just right, and make sure it was all secure. This part was probably the most frustrating, to be honest.
The Final Touches
The last part was adding the lining and some pockets. I found a logo jacquard lining that was pretty similar to what PRADA uses. Sewed that in, added a couple of pockets, and bam, the inside looked legit. I also added these little feet at the bottom of the bag, ’cause that’s a nice touch, and it protects the leather.
In the end, I gotta say, it looked pretty darn good. Not exactly like the real PRADA, but close enough. It felt good, too, solid and well-made. I carried it around for a few days, and it held up pretty well. Even got a few compliments, which was a nice bonus.
So, yeah, that’s my story of remaking the PRADA Medium Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag. It was a lot of work, a lot of trial and error, but in the end, I’m pretty proud of what I made. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine, and that’s somethin’, right?
