Alright, so I’ve been wanting to remake this Patek Philippe Calatrava 6119R-001, the rose gold one, for a while now. It’s a real beauty, and I figured, why not give it a shot myself? It looked tough, but I was up for the challenge.
First off, I needed to get a good look at this thing. I spent hours just staring at pictures online, trying to get a feel for the size and shape. I learned that this watch is 39mm in diameter and just 8.08mm thick. Pretty sleek, right? And it’s got this shiny, polished look all around. It is simple and classic. So, I sketched it out a bunch of times, trying to get the proportions right.
Then came the fun part – picking out the materials. I decided to go with some high-quality stuff to make sure it looked legit. I mean, this is a Patek Philippe, even if it’s just my version. I found this great rose gold material that had just the right shine, and I knew it would be perfect for the case. I also got some sapphire crystal for the case back ’cause the original has one of those, and I wanted to stay true to the design.
Next up was actually making the thing. This was the hardest part, no doubt. I started with the case, shaping the rose gold into that classic round shape. Took a lot of patience and a steady hand, let me tell you. But slowly but surely, it started to take form. I polished it up real nice, just like the original.
- Diameter: 39mm, just like I wanted.
- Height: Got it down to 8.08mm. Tricky, but I managed.
- Water-resistance: It can handle up to 30m, so no worries there.
- Case back: Sapphire crystal, clear as day.
I gotta say, seeing the finished product was pretty amazing. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine. And it really does look like a Patek Philippe Calatrava 6119R-001. The “Clous de Paris” thing, that fancy pattern, is there too. I’m pretty proud of how it turned out.
This whole project was a blast. It was a lot of work, but I learned so much along the way. And now I have this awesome watch to show for it. It might not be a real Patek, but it’s a real accomplishment for me. If you’re thinking about trying something like this, I say go for it! It’s a great way to challenge yourself and create something truly unique.
