Imitation Jaeger-LeCoultre JLC Master Control Date Original Order: Whats the Real Difference?

Okay, so I’ve been meaning to share this for a while. I finally got my hands on an imitation Jaeger-LeCoultre JLC Master Control Date, the original order one, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey.

First off, I’ve always been a watch guy, but the genuine ones, especially JLC, they’re way out of my budget. But I really liked the look of the Master Control Date, it’s simple, you know? Not too flashy.

So, I started digging around. I heard whispers in some forums about these “original order” versions. Apparently, they’re made with the same or similar parts as the real deal, just not assembled by JLC. This sounded interesting, so I went down the rabbit hole.

It was tough, not gonna lie. Lots of sketchy websites and sellers. I had to sift through a ton of duds before I found a seller that seemed legit. We chatted for a bit, I asked a million questions – you can never be too careful with this stuff, right?

After a few weeks of back-and-forth, I finally pulled the trigger. Sent the money and waited. It felt like forever, but one day, the package arrived. My heart was racing as I opened it.

And there it was, the imitation JLC Master Control Date. It looked good, felt heavy, just like the real one I’d seen in a store once. The date wheel was a bit wonky on a few pieces – a common problem I’d read about – but overall I managed to find one in great shape. It took a few more weeks of searching and contacting several sellers to find the one I’m happy with, but it was worth it.

I’ve been wearing it for a few weeks now, mostly on special occasions. I even wore it to a work event the other day, just to see if anyone would notice. Got a few compliments, no one suspected a thing. Feels pretty good, not gonna lie.

  • Pros:
    • Looks and feels almost identical to the original.
    • Much more affordable than the genuine article.
    • The thrill of wearing a watch that’s almost the real deal.
  • Cons:
    • The search for a good seller is a pain.
    • The potential for quality issues, especially the date wheel.
    • The slight guilt of wearing an imitation.

So, yeah, that’s my story with the imitation JLC Master Control Date. It’s not for everyone, but for me, it’s been a fun little adventure. It’s a way to enjoy the style of a luxury watch without breaking the bank. I know that some of the luxury watch is about the quality of the movement and heritage, but I just like how it looks. Plus, I love wearing it on casual Fridays just to get a reaction out of people, haha!

Would I do it again?

Probably. It’s not the same as owning a real one, but it scratches that itch, you know? And for the price, I can’t really complain.

What’s next?

I might look into other “original order” watches. Maybe a Reverso next, who knows. But for now, I’m happy with my Master Control Date. Or at least my version of it.

Anyway, just wanted to share my experience. Hope you guys found it interesting. Let me know if you have any questions, I’ll try my best to answer them!
