Alright, let’s talk about them Rolex Submariner watches, you know, the fancy ones. Folks call ’em “high imitation” too, which I guess means they look mighty real but ain’t. Don’t really matter to me, a watch is a watch, long as it tells the time, right?

Now, I hear tell some of these old Submariners, made way back when, like in the 1960s and 70s, them are real special. They got this “caliber 1575 mvmt” thingamajig inside, whatever that is. And if all the parts are original, like they ain’t been messed with, well, them watches can cost a pretty penny. Heard tell of some going for 15,000 dollars, even 50,000 dollars! Can you believe that? That’s more money than I’ve seen in my whole life, I reckon. They talk about “285 endlinks” too, but don’t ask me what that means. Just fancy talk, I figure.

Then you got the new ones. They got numbers like 124060, and folks say they’re worth around 11,000 dollars or so. That’s still a heap of money, enough to buy a good used car, maybe even a small tractor. These new ones, they got somethin’ called “3235 base movements” and a “Chronergy escapement.” Sounds complicated, like fixin’ a combine, only smaller.

  • The old ones (1967-1975) – Expensive if they ain’t been tinkered with.
  • The new ones (like the 124060) – Still pricey, but maybe not as much as them old ones.

I saw an ad once, somethin’ about “Authorized Rolex retailer” and “Williams Jewelers.” They sell ’em for men and women, so I guess everybody wants a fancy watch these days. They even had somethin’ called “Tags: Rolex Englewood,” which I don’t rightly understand. City folks and their fancy words, I tell ya.

Now, I heard tell you gotta get in line if you want to buy one of these Submariners. Been that way since 1953, they say. Like waitin’ for the bus on a Saturday, only you’re waitin’ for a watch that costs more than a whole year’s worth of groceries.

Someone told me a story once, about a fella who got a Submariner as a gift. Said it was a “beautiful submariner” and a “tremendous gift,” but he didn’t want to take it at first ’cause it was so expensive. Can’t imagine that, turnin’ down a fancy watch. But I guess some folks are just built different.

And get this, there’s these other watches, they call ’em “M79 Auto.” They look just like the Rolex, but they cost way less. Like, one-thirtieth the price. So, you can get the look without spendin’ all your hard-earned cash. Seems like a good deal to me, if you just want somethin’ that looks nice. Why pay more, I always say. Unless you’re tryin’ to impress somebody, I guess.

So, that’s the story on them Rolex Submariner watches, as best as I can tell ya. Old ones, new ones, expensive ones, cheaper ones… it’s all a bit much for me. Give me a good ol’ clock on the wall any day. At least I know how to read it.

If you’re lookin’ for a Rolex Submariner quote, well, I can’t rightly give you one. Prices change all the time, just like the weather. Best thing to do is go to one of them fancy stores or look online. But be prepared to spend a whole lot of money, that’s for sure. Or maybe just get one of them look-alike watches. Nobody’ll know the difference, ‘cept you and maybe them city folk with their “Tags.”

But if you’re set on gettin’ a real Rolex, make sure you do your research. Don’t want to get swindled, you know. There are good ones and bad ones, just like people. And remember, a watch is just a watch, no matter how much it costs. It ain’t gonna make you younger, prettier or smarter.

Just tells the time, that’s all. And time, well, that just keeps on tickin’, whether you got a fancy watch or not. That’s somethin’ to think about, ain’t it?
