So, I’ve been getting into this whole watch thing lately, and let me tell you, it’s a rabbit hole. My latest adventure? Trying to track down one of those fancy Omega Speedmaster Chrono Chime watches. You know, the ones that are like, super exclusive and only sold at certain stores? Yeah, those.
First, I hit up Google, as one does. I just typed in “Omega Speedmaster Chrono Chime” and started browsing. Turns out, these watches are a pretty big deal. They’ve got this 18K Sedna™ Gold case, inspired by the second-gen Speedmaster, which apparently went to space. Cool, right? There are two models.
- First, I found this website called GemOro. They claim to have a bunch of Omega watches, both online and in their store. I got excited for a second, thinking I’d found an easy way to snag one.
- Then, I stumbled upon this place called Tourneau I Bucherer. They’re an authorized retailer, so that’s a plus. They even offer a 5-year warranty on top of the manufacturer’s warranty. Felt a bit more legit, you know?
- But then, reality started to set in. I read somewhere that if you want to buy a Speedmaster, you basically have to “get in line.” These things have been around since 1957, so the demand is probably through the roof.
- There’s also the Speedmaster Moonwatch series, which has those skeleton dials and ceramic cases. Found some info on that, too. Not exactly the Chrono Chime, but still pretty sweet.
Getting serious
Okay, so after all that online browsing, I decided to get serious. I figured the best way to get my hands on one of these watches was to go through an authorized retailer. So I started calling around, trying to find out if any of the local stores had it in stock. It’s like, this watch is seriously aimed at collectors, with a unique caliber and all that. No luck so far. Seems like everyone’s either out of stock or has a waiting list longer than my arm. It’s starting to feel like a bit of a wild goose chase, to be honest.
But hey, I’m not giving up yet. I’ve got my eye on a few stores, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Maybe I’ll get lucky, and one will magically appear. If not, I guess I’ll just have to add my name to one of those waiting lists and hope for the best. It’s all part of the fun of collecting, right? The thrill of the hunt and all that. Anyway, that’s where I’m at with this whole Omega Speedmaster Chrono Chime thing. Wish me luck!
