Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to remake this PRADA Re-Edition 1995 Chaine Re-Nylon Tote Bag for a while now. You know, the one with the quilted design and the enamel triangle logo? It’s a classic, but I wanted to put my own spin on it. So, I decided to just go for it!

First things first, I gathered all my materials. I managed to find some really nice recycled nylon fabric in black – had to stick with the classic color, you know? Then, I needed the padding for that signature quilted look. That wasn’t too hard to find. The hardest part was probably recreating that iconic enamel triangle logo, but I’ll get to that in a bit. Oh, and I also needed the chain strap, some leather detailing, and a keyring attachment. Luckily I’m pretty good at thrifting and sourcing stuff, and I like to think I have a pretty good eye for detail!

Getting Down to Business

I started by cutting the nylon fabric according to the measurements I’d painstakingly taken from pictures and videos of the original bag online. I made sure to cut extra, just in case I messed up. Better safe than sorry, right?

Next, I started working on the quilting. I sandwiched the padding between two layers of the nylon and started stitching away. I went for a simple diamond pattern, just like the original. It was a bit time-consuming, but honestly, pretty therapeutic. I put on some music and just went to town on it. I lost a few needles along the way, but nothing too crazy.

  • Cut the nylon fabric.
  • Create the quilted panels.
  • Assemble the bag’s body.

Once the quilted panels were done, I started assembling the bag. I sewed the panels together, leaving space for the zipper at the top. It was starting to look like a real bag! I gotta say, I was pretty impressed with myself at this point. This was the part that really made me sweat, though. I don’t work with zippers often, so I was watching tons of videos and crossing my fingers the whole time.

The Details

Now for the fun part – the details! I added the leather detailing to the handles and the bottom of the bag. Then, I attached the chain strap. For the enamel triangle logo, I decided to get creative. I found a similar-looking metal piece and painted it with enamel paint. I then carefully attached it to the front of the bag. It’s not perfect, but it definitely captures the essence of the original, if I do say so myself.

  • Add leather detailing.
  • Attach the chain strap.
  • Create and attach the triangle logo.

Finally, I added the keyring attachment, which is a nice little touch that the original bag has. And just like that, my PRADA Re-Edition 1995 Chaine Re-Nylon Tote Bag remake was complete!

The Finished Product

I’m pretty darn proud of how it turned out. It’s not an exact replica, but it definitely captures the spirit of the original. Plus, it was a fun project to work on. It’s a good feeling to take something you like and put your own spin on it. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine, and I made it with my own two hands, a few needles, and a whole lot of patience!

I mean, who needs to buy the original when you can just make your own, right? Okay, maybe it’s not quite the same, but it’s close enough for me! And hey, it was a heck of a lot cheaper too! The whole thing was just a fun little experiment. I might try making another one in a different color next time. Maybe a navy blue? We’ll see!
