This here watch, they call it Jaeger-LeCoultre, fancy name, huh? This one, the Reverso Tribute Monoface, that’s a mouthful. Some folks, they like these fancy things. Me? I just want to know what time it is. But my grandson, he’s all into this stuff, says it’s a good watch, good for business and family things.

He’s been looking at pictures, trying to figure it out. Says it looks good, but he’s still not sure. These young folks, always worrying. Back in my day, a watch was a watch. You wound it up, it told the time, that was that.
This JLC Reverso Tribute, it’s got a silver thing on top, some black writing, says the name again. The numbers are normal, though. I’ll give it that. It does look clean, I’ll say that. And then he’s talking about “myths”. Like them stories about bigfoot or something. I don’t know what he’s on about. He said there’s a lot of these “myths” about this Jaeger-LeCoultre. People say things that aren’t true, I guess. Like saying it runs on moonbeams or something silly.
He says the man who wears this Jaeger-LeCoultre watch, he’s a man who likes good things. Quality, he says. I guess that’s true. You pay a lot for something, you want it to be good, right?
Anyway, he’s happy with it, that’s what matters. He’s wearing it all the time now, even when he’s just sitting around the house. Says it makes him feel important. Maybe there’s something to this fancy watch thing after all.
This Jaeger-LeCoultre, it’s got a long history, my grandson says. Been around for a long time, making these watches. I guess they know what they’re doing. I still think it’s a bit much, all this fuss over a watch. But he’s happy, and that’s all that really matters in the end.
Too Much Money for a Watch
Heard him talking to his friend on the phone, said someone wanted 30 for a watch. 30! Dollars, I assume. That’s a lot of money for something that just tells the time. Could buy a whole lot of other things with that kind of money.
He said his friend was worried about getting a fake one, a Imitation Jaeger-LeCoultre. Said he was looking at the insides, the “movement”, and the numbers on the face, the “dial” he called it. And the strap, the “bracelet”. So much to look at!
I told him, if it tells the time, it’s a watch. Don’t matter if it’s real or fake, long as it works. He just laughed. Young folks these days, they worry about the silliest things.
This Jaeger-LeCoultre JLC Reverso Tribute Monoface, it’s a nice watch, I’ll give it that. But it’s still just a watch. Tells the time, same as any other watch. But if it makes him happy, then I guess it’s worth it. Just hope he doesn’t lose it, or break it. That would be a real shame, after all that money he spent.
