Alright, so I finally did it. I got myself an OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch, the one with the see-through back. Let me tell you, it was a bit of a journey.
First, I spent hours, days even, online just looking around. Just window shopping, you know? It says “Miljoenen producten voor 23.59 uur besteld” on some shop. I just browsed all kinds of watches, but I kept coming back to the OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch. I mean, that name alone, right? It just sounds cool.
Then, I started actually looking into buying one. I read some stuff online, some forum posts here and there. Turns out, this watch isn’t as precise as some other fancy watches, like the Rolex Daytona. They got this thing called a “Superlative Chronometer” which is like super accurate. But I didn’t care about that. I read about this “Calibre 321” from the 60s, then they used a “Calibre 861” in the actual Moon watch, and now it’s this “Calibre 1861”.
After all that, I finally found one in an official store. And I pulled the trigger. It comes in at 40.85mm but 14.45mm thick. The size is good enough for me. When it arrived, man, it was something else. Holding it in my hands, it felt substantial, solid. I got the one with the clear back so I could see all the little gears and stuff moving around. It’s actually kind of fun to wind it up by hand, and I can see all the little bits moving around inside because it’s transparent on the back. And that movement, they call it the “OMEGA Caliber 1861”, it runs at 21 something.
- I spent hours looking at watches online.
- I decided on the OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch.
- I did some digging, read some stuff online.
- I found one in an official store and bought it.
- I got the one with the transparent case back.
So yeah, that’s my story of getting my Moonwatch. It was a bit of a process, but totally worth it. The watch is great and now I can look all the mechanisms from the back. I love it.
