So, I’ve been messing around with watches lately, you know, just trying different stuff out. And I got this idea to try and make a CopyOMEGA Ω X-33 Marstimer look like the classic style. I mean, the Marstimer’s cool and all, but sometimes you just want that old-school vibe, right?

First, I spent a bunch of time looking at pictures of the original Speedmaster. I wanted to see what makes it look the way it does. I even checked out some forums where people talk about this stuff, and they had some good ideas. They mentioned things like the hands, the dial, and even the way the numbers are written. One guy showed a pic of his X-33 SI2, which gave me some inspiration.

Then, I started playing around with my own X-33. I got a hold of some different parts. I remember seeing a post about someone having trouble syncing the hands on their X-33, but they figured it out. That gave me hope that I could do this.

  • I swapped out the hands. I found some that look more like the classic Speedmaster ones. It was a bit tricky, but I managed to get them on.
  • Next, I worked on the dial. I couldn’t replace the whole thing, but I added some details to make it look more classic. I used some tiny stickers and stuff. It’s not perfect, but it does the trick.
  • I even tried to change the way the numbers look on the digital display. That was tough. I read somewhere that someone else had tried this, and they said it was a pain. They were right! But I got it close enough.

Setting the time was another little adventure. I saw this post where someone was talking about setting the time on their X-33, and it helped me figure it out. It’s not like setting a regular watch, you know?

After all that, I stepped back and looked at it. It’s not perfect, and I’m sure some people will say I ruined a perfectly good Marstimer. But I like it. It’s got that classic feel, but it’s still got all the cool functions of the X-33. Someone on a forum said that the Speedmaster Professional holds its value well, especially the old ones. I don’t know if mine will, but I’m not planning on selling it anyway.

Oh, and I learned something about spotting fake Omegas. They say you should look at the serial number. If it’s the same on a bunch of watches, it’s probably fake. Good to know!

So yeah, that’s my little project. It was fun messing around with it and seeing what I could do. It’s not a perfect copy of the classic Speedmaster, but it’s my own little version, and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.
